Requirements
Summary of grading criteria:
- 5% - Quizzes
- 15% - Assignments
- 25% - Projects
- 30% - Midterms
- 25% - Final
Final letter grades will be based on the relative distribution of total
scores and not on any preset numerical grade.
Quizzes
Several in-class quizzes will be given throughout the semester to
help you review the course material.
Assignments
- Assignments will involve written work.
- Each assignment needs to be turned in electronically by 11:59 pm
on the due date.
- You lose 25% of the grade for each extra day. After 4 days, you
won't get any credit for the assignment unless you obtain prior permission
from the instructor.
Tentative dates for the assignments are being worked out and will
be made available soon.
Projects
- Projects will involve programming.
- Each project needs to be turned in electronically by 11:59 pm
on the due date.
- You lose 25% of the grade for each extra day. After 4 days, you

Exams
There are three exams - two midterms and one final.
The midterms will be held in class during the regular class period. Each
midterm is worth 15%.
The final will be held during the final exam time slot.
